Point tarify at your files
Connect Outlook or SharePoint — or simply upload your documents. New documents get picked up automatically.
You don't need to understand the EU's carbon border rules. Point tarify at your invoices — it tells you if you're even affected, what you'll owe, and prepares the filing for you.

An indicative estimate on the EU default values, not legal advice. tarify confirms your exact obligation against your supplier data and the current EU rules.
IN SCOPE
CBAM applies to six groups of goods. If you import any of them into the EU, tarify handles it end to end.
Iron & steelCN 72
AluminiumCN 76
CementCN 2523
FertilisersCN 31
HydrogenCN 2804
ElectricityCN 2716THE STAKES
Two numbers decide what CBAM costs you: how much you import, and how little of it still counts as free.
Import more than 50 t of CBAM goods in a year and it is all yours: the obligation, the paperwork — and the authorisation you need before you cross the line, which takes up to 180 days.
| Year | Free allocation remaining |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 97.5% |
| 2027 | 95.0% |
| 2028 | 90.0% |
| 2029 | 77.5% |
| 2030 | 51.5% |
| 2031 | 39.0% |
| 2032 | 26.5% |
| 2033 | 14.0% |
| 2034 | 0.0% |
The share of emissions you don't pay for falls to zero by 2034. Every year, more of each import is billable.
BY HAND vs. TARIFY
Every figure on a customs declaration drives a legal obligation — and under-reporting is penalised at 3–5×. Here's the difference.
HOW IT WORKS
No data entry, no CBAM expertise. Connect your sources once; tarify walks each document from inbox to declaration — you only step in at the end.
01
Connect
Connect Outlook or SharePoint — or simply upload your documents. New documents get picked up automatically.
02
Read
Each obligation-driving value is lifted off the page and linked back to the exact line it came from — auditable, never a black box.
03
Compute
Certificates and cost, to the cent, under the current EU rules. A value we can't compute with confidence is flagged for you — never guessed.
04
Track
Surrender, holding and declaration dates tracked per period, so nothing slips.
05
Declare
You review and submit. tarify prepares the declaration but never files on your behalf.
Request onboardingThe figures are calculated under Regulation (EU) 2023/956 and Implementing Regulations (EU) 2025/2620 and 2025/2621, using the 32,790 official EU default values and 10,340 benchmarks. Every value read from your documents is marked in the customs document it came from.

SECURITY
Your documents sit on our own servers in the EU, and the AI extraction runs in EU regions only — every other region is blocked in the policy. Encrypted in transit and at rest.
No third-party tracking, and nothing resold. Every figure is checked against the primary EU legal text, with a full audit trail available on request.
GOOD QUESTIONS
If you import iron or steel, aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen or electricity into the EU, probably yes — once you go over 50 tonnes in a calendar year, counted across all of them together. tarify checks your imports and tells you plainly, in a couple of minutes.
The first thing that happens is not a fine — it is a rejected customs declaration. Past 50 tonnes you need an authorised-declarant number to clear goods at all, and that authorisation takes 120 to 180 days to obtain. Penalties for importing without it run to three to five times the carbon you should have surrendered.
No — that's the whole point. tarify does the expert part behind the scenes. You add your customs documents, review the result, and have the filing ready for the day the EU registry opens in 2027.
Not at all. You'll never see emissions math or legal jargon unless you go looking for it. You get plain answers: whether you're affected, what you'll owe, and what to file.
Yes. Your documents stay in the EU, are never shared, and are never used to train models. Every number tarify produces is checked against the actual EU legal text.
PERSONAL ONBOARDING
tarify is live. Instead of an open sign-up, we set up every importer personally, so everything fits your imports from day one. Leave your details and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
